Let's start this blogging thing all over again, shall we? New city, new home, and new attitude! As you know from my very long ago post in July, we sold our house and had just a short time to pack up and move. Just a quick note to let you know that the packing is just about done. This is the first picture (late at night) with the first round of fabric. Those are almost all 58 quart tubs, and the way I figure it, I have about 1,856 quarts of fabric there.   The POD is now about 3/4 full and I think I have just another day's worth of sorting and packing. I've been working with a group of quilters on both sides of the Missouri and the Mississippi River.  Seven of us are on the west side of Missouri and the Missouri River, and the other 8 quilters are around the Mississippi River near and around the St. Louis area. Back in March, we were all given a fat quarter of a piece of fabric that was all the same, and it was designated for the "river".

On our drive to Suttons Bay, we saw a little gallery that had many kinetic wind sculptures in the yard, and these interesting sculptures. So of course, we had to stop and investigate! As predicted, it was a flurry of a week. After I took Bonnie to the Kaw Valley Guild in Lawrence, KS, I had a few days to get the housework done, and some mystery shopping completed. I started a perfect day today by going to the Olathe Kansas Quilt Guild's show. They held it in a local mall (inside) in a vacant store, and while the venue was very nice with it's bright lights and space, it was difficult to find because of the lack of signage outside. As some of you know, my stitch group, the Amazing Quilt Babes, celebrate our birthdays throughout the year by making blocks/quilts for each other. Several of you have had some questions about Gwen's retreat/s. She moved them from Beaver Island to White Birch Lodge in Elk Rapids, MI (about 18 miles south of Charlevoix) about 7 years ago. The ferry takes too long, and the flights had gotten too expensive for the participants, so the move was made. It's a wonderful family owned for over 50 years lodge that is so accommodating to our needs!

I got back home from Gwen Marston's "Beaver Island Quilt Retreat" (now held in Elk Rapids, MI) Sunday night. It was, as usual, just fabulous. Let me tell you now, that Gwen has put the R-E-T-R-E-A-T back into quilt retreat. We're home from the Mayo Clinic and as Hubby says, he's got an extended warranty now on his transplants. It's such a long drive there, but the city is so welcoming and easy to get around in, and of course, the Mayo Clinic staff are just wonderful - ALL OF THEM! Well, here we are at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN for hubby's annual checkup. He sees the doctors, gets poked for blood and such and I sew! Such a deal! Actually, when we come north the car is packed mostly with my sewing machine and projects/ Some people are having stay-cations, while we are having a Mayo-cation!The weather has been fabulous here, and we've been able to have the windows open.
